How much does dance help in getting admitted to a selective college?

I have been dancing since 6th grade and am on a competitive team at a local dance studio. I have classes/rehearsal 4 times a week with performances or extra rehearsals on weekends. I am also on my high school’s Pom team (similar to cheer but with dance), which has practice everyday and performances at football and basketball games on Friday and Tuesday.

Will dance help at all with getting into top colleges?
(like the ivy leagues, northwestern, stanford, georgetown…etc)
If so, do I audition at the university or send a video of myself?
Which colleges admit students partially based on dance?

I don’t want to major in dance or go to a college highly focused on the arts (necessarily)…I’m just wondering if my dancing skills can help me get into college at all. I know many schools recruit for baseball, football, etc, so I was curious if they did for dance as well.
I am a contemporary dancer but also do jazz, a little hiphop, ballet, and musical theater.

Thank you!

Unless you have gained some sort of exceptional recognition, it’s an extracurricular activity like any other.

Supplemental arts submissions should only be done to showcase exceptional talent.

Do you have awards at state or national level? If so then it might help you.

My daughter’s bff was accepted to UCLA with mediocare stats but have numerous dance awards at state and national level.

Also a kid from her school was accepted to Harvard 2 years ago. This kid was not even in the top 50. But she attended a prestigous and competitive ballet school in Russia.

Awards may help to get into some schools. I agree with justonedad. But there are more things that have the same or more weight in your app. Extracurricular and Personal Statement are what makes a unique student since you will be competing with students that have probably better grades and Standarized tests.
What’s your GPA and SAT/ACT score?
