how much does early decision help?

i feel really stupid. i recently fell in love with swarthmore =). but i applied early to yale. i expect not to get in there and now i'm sooooo regretting not applying early to swarthmore....its my dream college i think.

so my deal is, i'm applying regular...and i'm not sure if i will get an interview because i havent gotten one yet and i won't get my app in til near deadline. do i seem totally uninterested in the school? cause that's not true!

Work really hard on your "Why Swarthmore" essay. They look at that as a gauge of interest--how well you're able to express why you want to go there.

The Swarthmore admissions office, like most admissions offices, maintains that it is not "easier" to get in when applying ED. Although the ED acceptance rate is significantly higher than the RD rate, the admissions office says that the quality of the ED applicants is significantly higher.

Without real data, those of us not in the admissions office will never know for sure if this is really true. But it is certainly possible to get accepted RD. My daugther did.

On the interview I would call the admissions office and see if it is possible for you to get an alumni interview.

Doesn't Swarthmore still have a second round of Early Decision which it might be possible for you to apply to?

Yep, it does. Same deadline as RD. :]
