How much does ECs matter and how many units is too much for one semester?

I am an incoming community college student that is looking towards applying to transfer to UCLA/UC Berkeley for Applied Math or CS.

I know that ECs are generally necessary to get admitted into a T20 for freshmen admissions but I was wondering if the same applies for transfers as well.

I also wonder if taking more than 15 units is a terrible idea (planning to take two stem and two humanities classes for the 15 units).

It’s always good to start out slow to get the lay of the land, so 15 is good. ECs are not as important so don’t worry, but tutoring is always a good add. Community involvement if you have time.
