How much does ED really help?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any idea how much of a boost applying ED gives someone? I know that you still need to be a competitive applicant, but it would just be nice to know how the admissions committee views and ED versus and RD applicant!

The total ED (1 and 2) admit rate was 22.5% , and for RD, it was 9.5%. Of course you have to be a competitive applicant, but if you think Vandy is the school for you, applying early does have its advantages.

ED is a definite plus and ED1 a little more so than ED2 (no matter what they tell you).

ED data:

  1. ED test scores are slightly lower then RD.
  2. ED acceptance rate is much higher, 22.5%. RD’s rate is 9.5%.
  3. In ED, 3,600 applicants fill 44% of their freshman spots.
  4. RD has 27,000 apps fighting for 56% of the open spots.
  5. The ADCOM has more time to review each ED app.
  6. ED helps the ADCOM get their job done sooner.
  7. ED frees the ADCOM from having to court students in the spring.
  8. The ADCOM knows VU is your first choice and every school wants students that want them.
  9. Even need blind U’s know ED students tend to be well funded.
  10. ED helps improve yield.
Soooo, it is easy to see why top U’s have been increasing their use of ED.

Not to be a dick but one of the guys I’m friends with says a lot of his brothers in his fraternity got in ED and they’re “noticeably less intelligent than the average Vanderbilt student.” (he didn’t say it like that but you get the idea)

What this means for you is that applying ED is very beneficial

@Suffer I know someone in Beta and he basically said the same thing!
