How much does fit factor in? I'm just curious because while my scores say reach to high reach, I'm a great fit and unique. Does anyone else have any experience here?

Well, certainly you would have to display interest in your essay. However, I do not think there is a terrible emphasis on EC fit (although it would help). I recently got accepted by AEM despite my only real EC being almost four years of track and field–and having no business related extracurriculars.

fit definitely factors in a lot. passion is more important in the long run than grades.

re: islander4’s EC point: yeah, i was in a similar situation when i applied - i didn’t have any vanilla business-related ECs (ie: DECA/FBLA/etc) in high school, but i did have a lot of international- and humanitarian-related ECs and in my essay, i got my point across that i wanted to major in int’l trade & dev. your ECs don’t necessarily have to be IDENTICAL to your intended major - as long as you prove in your essay that you have passion - or can relate your other ECs to your interest in the field (even if they’re not exactly explicit) - you should be okay.

I’m a biology major and I had no extracurriculars related to biology or science in general: no volunteering at hospitals, research, science olympiad, none of that. I had extracurriculars related to almost every other subject from school, but I doubt they really cared much about that.
