I just finished up my transfer application to Columbia for this time around (sophomore transfer). I applied last year and got rejected due to a suspension. Should I spend the time addressing it in my application this time around, or because of the fact it happened a year ago, the adcom would not care about it much? It's just that they'll most likely have my freshman application, which I addressed my suspension, but I felt that it would be redundant if I mention it again in my transfer app. In short, I'm somewhat confused if it'll be a big factor or not

Well, you’ve only been in college for a semester and a half, so your high school record – especially your grades – is going to play a significant role in Columbia’s evaluation of you.

The Common App will ask you if you have ever been suspended from any school since 9th grade. You’ll have to say yes and submit an explanation. If you don’t, your high school may report that you were suspended, and Columbia may consider you a liar.

So in short, you have to address your high school suspension (unless you know for a fact that your high school won’t report it).
