how much does it affect your chances if other kids from your school are applying? i know harvard says it doesn`t have a quota for high schools but is the admissions process done based on region? and if so, would they compare me with the other kids who are applying from my school? even if my application was in a couple weeks before theirs?

also, does my dad's going to harvard business school count as a legacy? will it give me any advantage?

sorry for the mass of questions, any input would be great, thanks!

I don't believe it matters when your application is turned it. I'm also one of three people applying, but the only EA. I have seen them take more than one student, but only from highly competitve private schools. If you come from an average public school, taking more than one probably won't happen (unless both of you are definitely qualified. I don't know about your dad's legacy.

harvard will tell you that you are not in competition with others from your school. Whether that's true or not, who knows? I go to a public school, and we had 2 in last year.

The way Harvard does legacy, you would not be technically considered legacy because your parent did not attend the College, but hey, if he can donate a billion dollars to the school this week, you're a shoe-in!

As a student here, no, the fact that many students from your school apply does not make it a disadvantage. Furthermore, you are not considered a legacy here because your parents did not graduate Harvard College. Remember, Harvard College does not compare students applying from each school but rather compare it against the WHOLE applicant pool. Just because you stand out in your school may not mean that you are standing out in a sea of 20,000 applicants.
