How much does it hurt to not have an interview?

I contacted one of the schools DD is applying to today to arrange a Skype interview. And the only day they have available is the same as her next SSAT test. So, if she can’t do an interview how much does it hurt the application - any idea?

It’s nearly impossible to be accepted without an interview.

That’s what I was afraid of. We have some lined up, but others are just not falling into place.

Agree. The schools are being asked to take young kids away from home for months at a time. They really want to get a read on the person behind that paper to ensure – as much as possible. – that the kid will succeed.

Since your kid is an athlete, have you tried contacting the coach(es) for help (assuming they have been responsive to your kid’s communications thus far)?

Explain the conflict to the school, and ask to be notified when more Skype interview spots open up. There are schedule changes along the way for other applicants, so a slot might be booked now but available in a few days.

Thanks. DD is on the waiting list should a new day become available. They did tell me that she is not the only student in this situation, so hopefully they will add another day.
