How much does it really cost for OOS?

i know that the estimated cost for the year 2011-2012 is around 50,000 dollars. But, i heard that this cost is the MINIMUM cost that you will be spending. So, realistically, how much does it usually cost for OOS students to attend Umich. Thanks in advance

[Cost of Attendance](http://www.finaid.umich.edu/TopNav/AboutUMFinancialAid/CostofAttendance.aspx)

This is an estimate, the individual breakdowns are on the UofM website. You can search on Tuition and Fees and then search on room and board. If you go to the detail, then you can add your own budget for books, transportation, supplies, walking around money etc.

Last year my parents paid almost $52,000. this includes rent, food, tuition, and miscellaneous costs like UROP, fraternity stuff ", phone bills and just money to spend and have fun. This year we will spend less since I got a job and I’m hopefully going to get a $5,000 to 10,000 scholarship. We will spend roughly about $40,000 or less. By the way these figures do not include financial aid. We got 3500 my freshman year, 4500 my sophomore year and we are getting 7500 my junior year coming up. Hope this helps.

OOS is usally a looot more than In-state, so try to get as many scholarships + any other shorts of money that u can

My parents are paying somewhere around 20,000-25,000 due to loans and grants and scholarships…
I’ll be paying back 20,000-25,000 in loans when I graduate as well…

I know I got it cut down a lot, but I’m worried about my parents running out of money considering I could’ve gone to the schools in my state for free/almost free (UT for 8k a yr, A&M for free)
