How much does legacy help?

My dad graduated from Chapel Hill, so I'm fortunate to have legacy to a great school. Obviously I would have to have good grades (GPA's a 3.9 as of my junior year, but will hopefully raise by end of senior.) Just was wondering because some schools consider legacy students as in state students (I live in VA.)
Thanks!

Not much unless large donors.

Both my sister and her husband are alums and athletes. Didn’t help D3 and she is OOS with a 4.52 GPA

I’m sorry, what does D3 mean? Division 3? And did she get in?

It helps sometimes, especially if you are out of state. Here is an article that will help you:
