i’m planning to apply early decision for brown and my father is an alumni, however my family isn’t rich and he’s not a donor or anything. a quick overview of my application is: 5.1 weighted gpa, 1490 SAT, majority 5’s on AP exams, etc. i think my extracurriculars may be lacking, i go to an arts high school and have won multiple national visual art awards but otherwise i haven’t done much at all for extracurriculars. everything else on my application seems to be on par for brown, so im just curious on how much legacy status adds to my application
Look at Section C7 of the Brown Common Data Set. Then, ask the admissions office what family relationship qualifies as a “legacy”.
Your father is an alumnus.
I don’t want to be pedantic- but if you do reach out to the admissions office, it will help if your grammar is correct when you ask!

With multiple national visual arts awards you don’t need to worry about having other EC’s, I would think. If your father is an alumnus, you are a legacy. Brown appparently still has legacy admissions The Bruno Brief: Should Brown end legacy admissions? - The Brown Daily Herald.
