How much does "MINORITY" status help?

i’m hispanic with a 690 (critical reading), 700 (math), writing (760) on the SAT and 31 on ACT composite…taking 5 AP’s this year and took 2 last year…straight A’s in all subjects…president of 3 clubs…sports captain & in drama program…what are my chances?

how much does my minority status help?

Minority status helps if you're anything but Asian. If you're Asian, your status actually goes against you.

-from the Penn forum

damn. I am ASian INDIAN

Generally:

Impact at the top 10/20 elites in terms of adding to the SAT - URM value might be about as follows:

american indian 250 to 400 pts added to SAT (e.g at Dartmouth)
african-american 150 to 300 points
hispanic 50 to 150 points
asian (subtract 50 points)

Percentage of minority blood, economic status, precise indian tribe (e.g. Alaskan tribes worth more) - can vary this of course

it's not true that colleges goes "against" u if u r an Asian! It's simply u've to be compete harder w/ the SMART Asian students (if u r an Asian, and this theory is only applicable in Ivies and top-notch colleges)
Infact, Asians tend to get very easily in Almost-Top notch colleges!
So, don't worry tushar707!
cbgb215, I believe u'd definitely get some benefit for ur minority status since u'll be a highly prioritized when admission committee will be filling up quota (if there any) preserved for Hispanic Americans.
CITATION X, do u mean when Asians' SAT score is viewed Colleges took away 50 scores to equate w/ other ethnicity!
