would somthing like this be better? http://www.jkcp.com/

It looks stupid to me.......

Yout can't buy a hook. Stop looking.

when i got the letter in the mail, it gave me a list of students from my school who attended it last summer, so i asked them how it was and stuff. they all had one answer in common. although they had a lot of fun, they didnt really learn a lot. so i'm not going to waste my money this summer doing this program and unless you have a bunch of money waiting to be spent, i suggest you dont waste yours either.

Those are NOT beneficial to your college application. Just a waste of money and time. I recommend finding something that is less common among high school students: get a job, an internship, anything but NYLF.

i always get that stuff in the mail always some youth program or something wierd like that

From what I've been told, signing up to "National Youth Leadership" and such would only make you look like you have money to waste. I wouldn't suggest doing it.

i disagree with most people on here. Yes you might only need a 3.0 to go but i went and it was a great experience. I went to the National Youth Leadership FOrum on Medicine. I learned so much and met a lot of people

my opinion is that it's a good EXPERIENCE, but don't do it for college. go for the fun, and then leave it off your app

natl youth leadership conferences mean absolutely nothing... if you put it on your transcript as a big thing, colleges will laugh at you. everyone gets these letters. Complete idiots in my grade have gotten these letters. they mean absolutely nothing, and are a huge waste of 2000 dollars.

it's true, the programs are not that big of a help, however, they may be beneficial in scholarship/college essays; i incorporated my interactions with the international students at the Congressional Student Leadership Conference, similar to NYLF, in parts of my essays explaining the importance of a diverse campus; then again, since everyone at duke seemed to attend a program like this, it can't hurt to try, especially if u make a big deal about it and get organizations in your community to sponsor you

ummm the one i did was free

it was about the politics and situation in iraq, it was at usc

i really dont know how all of you people can really say that programs like these would hurt you, especially the ones hosted at prestigious colleges. It could look worse if it is a big part of your application, but it cant hurt to just get involved in something where u meet people from all over the country.

For the umpteenth time.
They mean nothing except that you come from a privledge backround.

I went to one of the programs and not only was it fun but it helped me out in my classes later on. Even if it doesnt play a big role in admissions (my counselor says it does help however) I would recommend going if you're interested in it.
