How much does Penn State look at EC's?

I'm currently waiting for my decision and I keep weighing my stats in my head to predict my chances but overall, my extracurriculars are big on my application. So I was just wondering how much the admissions office actually looks at the EC's in making a decision?

I have heard that they mainly look at GPA and standard test scores. If you fall into a grey area, they might look at your ECs. If you apply to a school like Pitt, they will take your ECs into account. Good luck!

“The high school grade-point average (GPA) accounts for approximately two-thirds of our decision. The remaining one-third is based on other factors, which may include standardized test scores (SAT or ACT), class rank, personal statement and activities list.”

Ok thanks a lot for the info!! The reason I’m asking is because while my stats arent too bad (I have a 1830 collective SAT, 4.0 GPA in top 10% of class) the most influential thing on my application, I think, is the fact that I am an Eagle Scout, and I was just wondering if this will even play a part. But again, thanks!

Unfortunately that won’t be too influential to Penn State, but I’d say you’re in good shape with that 4.0. Congratulations on that great achievement!

Thanks! Just wish they would make a decision already so that this anxiety over waiting would be over! haha
