How Much Does Prestige Actually Matter?

My only point, from personal experience, is that security on JHU’s campus is no worse than UNC’s. The blatantly obvious thing to me at JHU was they made security a very important thing to them. I’d say Baltimore and Durham run a tight race regarding danger, except Baltimore has a really nice major league baseball team.

<p>Exactly-on campus. UNC’s campus is incredibly safe, and I’m sure JHU’s is as well. But who wants to be stuck on campus all the time? While Chapel Hill is a beautiful, safe college town, Baltimore is a run-down and crime stricken city, particularly in the area surrounding JHU. You can jog all around Chapel Hill without feeling threatened in the least (unless you do so at 4 am); the same can’t be said for Baltimore.</p>

<p>And, like Blair said, Chapel Hill is nothing like Durham.</p>
