How Much Does Stanford Consider the ACT Writing? (How Bad is a 23)

Hey Everybody,

I took the act w/writing this past june and received the following scores
English: 36
Math: 36
Reading: 34
Science: 31
Writing: 23

I am pleased with all my scores except for Science and Writing. My science subject test isn’t terrible, and I’m hoping 800’s on Math II and Physics Subject tests as well as a bunch of 5’s on ap sciences, science awards, etc. will make the 31 trivial. However, I am generally worried about my Writing Score. I’ve heard that act messed up the grading on the essays in June and graded much more harshly than they should’ve. I don’t know if this is true or not, but regardless, should I retake the ACT for my writing score? How important is the writing section to Stanford? I’m applying regular decision so I can take it again in December if necessary.
