How much does TASP help?

Hey guys, the deadline for postmarking TASP applications was/is today. This is the Telluride Association Summer Program. To be invited to apply, you have to be in the top 1% for your state (PSAT scores). 20% of all applicants get interviewed. 10% of all applicants get in. Apparently it is one of the 2 most prestigious summer programs…of all (RSI at MIT is the other).

I have very amazing SAT II scores, pretty damn good SAT I scores (last time I took it I got a 1520; I took it again two days ago and am hoping for a better math score). My grades are fairly low (B+/A- average with a C freshman year) but I take tough courses at a hugely competitive, difficult and elite private high school. My recs and essays will be fabulous, my extracurrics only average. Now I’m wondering…

Say I were to get into TASP (and I understand this is a total shot in the dark) how much would it help? Would it push me over the edge at the huge name schools (HYP)? Or not so much?

Thanks.

I don't know much about their program but I got invited too, but will not be applying because of extracirricular conflicts (I had to skip it because I will be at a national competition for dance.) I hope this will not hurt my chances? I might not have gotten in anyway but I think doing a selective program like TASP certainly can't hurt your chances at those schools, if you are borderline I think it could certainly help.

Heh. Good question. I submitted my app too, hoping for the best.
