How much does the Chem 3A curve help (or not help)?

I got a 72 on my first midterm, and a 30 on my second one. At this point, I think I should drop and retake it in the fall.

the mean for the 2nd one was 56 i think and the SD was 21

Pros:
-better grade
-more time to learn the material/relearn

Cons:
-I lose just over $1000
-The tests might be harder, personally I think Robak's tests weren't too bad if i didn't have personal things going on right now and could give my all.
-I might "pass" or i might not. If i do, then I have the lowest grade. If I don't, it'll show up on my transcript and I can retake it anyways but I would have the bad grade there. I guess the smart decision would be to drop but then idk if it's worth it.

help.

actually i just looked at the histogram, and it looks like i will pass, but should I try to get a higher grade next semester and blow my money?

If you’re pre-med, yes definitely drop it and re-take. Are you sure it won’t show up as a Withdraw though?

Grades are money. Assuming that you want to go to grad school/higher education, then retake it.

Are you already enrolled in Chem 3A for next semester? If not, there is no way you’ll be able to get in.

No, I’m not enrolled. Wow you’re right. I just checked…143 students on the waitlist. lmao okay great. I guess that makes the decision easy for me.

I’m not premed but I do plan to continue after my 4 years here.

Yeah, 3A is one of those classes that fill up during Phase I, unfortunately.
