<p>hey i posted this in another forum but since you are parents or maybe even teachers you might have more experience with the matter...
if a students has a cheating incident does he or she have to report it to college or not????...
if he does...how bad are his chances hurt at top schools if he has other stats consistent with what the school usually admits???
will anything like essays or additional letters help?

<p>Were you suspended or did you receive any sort of disciplinary action from your school? If so, then there is a strong possibility that it will be mentioned in your school's recommendation. </p>
<p>Talk with your guidance counselor directly about this. Most colleges - including the top ones - frown very heavily on any hint of cheating so you and your guidance counselor need to have a plan for dealing with this head on. Not mentioning this could come back to haunt you if it pops up elsewhere somehow.</p>
