I am not entirely sure of all of my stats, but I know for sure that my EC's are lacking. If my only EC's are captain of chess team, quiz bowl member, eagle scout, and nhs, will that hurt my chances into getting into a college like UPenn of Chicago? My grades and SATs are above average, but nothing amazing. (3.68 UW, 4 something weighted, 2230 on sats, waiting for May results)

If you are dedicated to them and have done them consistently throughout high school I should think not.

I think eagle scout and the service that goes along with it is a great EC!

thats good to hear. I see all of these other posts and it seems like people have done just about everything, and i have 3 common EC's and 1 good EC.

I think being an Eagle Scout is good- you definitely might want to focus on that in your application. U Chicago really does look beyond ecs and grades- I think essays are the most important part of its application. U Penn I'm not sure about, but most schools tend to prefer quality rather than quantity...Your ecs are kind of sparse, but I don't think they'll hurt you (at Chicago, at least). :)

Keep in mind that CCers tend to be the cream of the crop- don't be intimidated. CC is NOT a representative representation of the applicant pool by any means.

well i guess that you got fair chances in many universities
