How much does URM Native American help?

I hope that I placed this in the right forum as this is my first post, but how much does it help in my application process if I am a Native American student living off of the reservation? I am wondering this in reference to some of the most prestigious universities like Harvard, Stanford, and Yale assuming that I am highly qualified?

If you’re Native American, and breathing, you’re in at HYPS.

While this is not true, a highly qualified NA candidate would be sought after by any college in the US.

Wow, I’ve never even seen a real Native American before. You have such a great edge, you don’t even know.

^ being a native American is not really URM everywhere. I live in Oklahoma, and I must say that there are a LOT, along with a lot of programs to help them. This is because of the Chickasaw/Choctaw nations and such…however I believe it would be a very good thing for Ivies/highly selective colleges.

Lol at tdkpro…I guess that just kind of puts where I am in perspective. At my school, if you have any native American blood (and like I said above, a lot do) then you get 30 dollars a semester for straight As, 20 for Bs and so on…

I agree with entomom. A qualified Native American candidate will get into virtually any university. In other words, if we aretalking about HYPS, the student would have to have a 3.7+ GPA taking a fair share of tough classes and a 2000+ SAT.
