I transferred in the middle of freshman year from another country and didn’t do so well GPA wise (3.0) with all level subjects.
Next year, I picked up the pace with as many pre-AP classes I could take, and recovered slightly (3.75)
And last year, I took mostly AP classes and got a 4.5.
My average is pretty low, but I have been trying to recover from my freshman year disaster.
Given that my ACT score is a 32, will UT accept me into their Chem major, despite the fact that I’m not in the top 7%?
I’m also the president of a large club, and have a lot of volunteer hours.
Because you are not in the top 7%, your application will get a holistic review. You are competing for only about 15% of the slots, so treat UT as a reach. Maybe one of your essays could highlight your progress here. Give it your best but do apply to other schools because UT is a reach for you.
Progression is almost never measured nor a factor in anything except essays, where you can use it as a compelling narrative device.
