How much does your GPA drop after transferring from a CC to a 4-year university?

I am attending Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC as a freshman with some previous credits. I'm expecting my GPA to be around a 3.5-3.7+ based on my performance in previous college courses. How much would you expect that to drop after transferring to...

University of South Carolina
University of Florida
University of Texas
University of North Carolina
North Carolina State University (?)

Also, how much did you GPA drop if you had this experience? I'm curious, that way I can set a standard for myself before classes start for me. Thank you!

It doesn’t have to drop at all. There’s nothing inherently “easier” about a CC as opposed to a university. It’s more to do with the fact that you’re moving from lower level courses to upper level courses. Some people can maintain a 4.0. It all depends on your own performance and dedication.

We go to the same school haha.

@comfortablycurt‌ Did you transfer at all? It’s okay, you can be honest xD

I have seen a number of students transfer into Illinois Tech from CCs across the country and it varies greatly. @comfortablycurt is correct, it depends a lot on the student as well as the level of the courses at the CC.

I haven’t transferred yet. I’m currently in my third (and last) year of CC.

I also tutor a few of my friends that are at 4 year universities in math and physics. I’m learning the same material that they are, from an instructor who is every bit as qualified. One major difference is that my physics class has 16 people in it, while the equivalent class at a large university would have 100+ students.
