For those planning on going to Graduate School for whatever (Business, Science, Math, or Engineering for me, who knows), how much does your undergrad college matter?

I've heard from others that it barely matters at all and to just make sure to get into a good Grad school, because that is much more crucial than undergrad.

So, if you are planning on going to Grad, what is the big fuss about for Undergrad?

It matters more if you only have an undergrad degree, but it doesn't really matter at all if you have a grad degree.

If you're very motivated and go above and beyond for everything then it probably won't matter. Just be aware that there are always people like you at HYPS etc. too and all things equal, they will win out in the Grad school admissions process.

if you're planning to go to graduate school, honestly, it doesn't matter where you go for undergrad. i know someone who went to community college, transferred to uci, did research and rocked his mcats and got into ucsd medical school...and yeah, its graduate school that matters most.

I wasn't saying that you can't get into a good grad school if you don't go to a prestigious undergrad school I was just saying it's toungher. UCSD is a good med school but if your friend applied to Harvard Med or Johns Hopkins then they may have turned him down if there were others with equal statistics but a better undergraduate university (ie Harvard)
