I've a lot of people say that the PSAT is easier (and shorter) when you compare it to the SAT. Is that true? How much easier is it?

Or is it harder, for some kids at least, with it being their first experience with an SAT format test?

Thanks, any input is appreciated.

I don't know that it's easier necessarily, but it's definitely shorter. And no essay.

I took the SAT in 8th grade and PSAT in 10th and from what I've seen I tend to do better on SAT math than PSAT math, but better on the PSAT CR and W than SAT CR and W. But that's just from my observations....

I say its about the same. Most people in my school actually do better on the SAT than the PSAT, even though many take them in the same month. The difficultly of the SAT questions is a little higher probably, but the length of the test allows for more stupid mistakes without causing your score to plummet.

the PSAT is infinity billion times easier than the SAT. the main reason for it being "easier" is probably not the content, but the length. The PSAT is half the size of the SAT, thus it's way easier to focus on it and perform your best throughout the test rather than on the SAT where after an hour or so, the fatigue and boredom really gets to you.

plus there's no essay. having the SAT essay first thing is kind of a killer because if you feel you didn't do well, you'll remain super un-confident throughout the test and do poorly on the rest even though you could have done better...i prefer the ACT where it happens at the end when you write all sorts of crap cuz after like four hours of testing you just don't give a hoot but what you end up writing ends up working usually.

PSAT is much much easier. Shorter length, less complicated math, no essay

that said, I think it's very high to get a top score on the PSAT because the curve is rough

i think the psat is way harder
bc if you mess up, even a little bit...your score plummets

^true. for me -1 on writing and -2 on cr meant a 232. but i was expecting a 215 so it was all good=) on my sat six months later i got a 2230. haha yeah maybe i should blame overconfidence....

nice!

i got my sat scores for oct today, i got a 2250,
however, i don't think i did as well on the psat

(i know for sure that i only missed 3 on math, which bumps me down to 70 at least--i missed one grid in and two mult choice)

and i know for sure i missed one cr vocab

and i dk about writing, but i got a 79 on my SAT MC so hopefully that shows? hopefully this SAT wasn't a fluke...though i have a hunch that it was. lol, but i'll take it.
