I was wondering how much demonstrated interest affects one's chance at Emory. Say my SAT scores are 2000 (1320/1600), I got 750s on my math subject tests, and my GPA is 3.74/4.28 about but I visited the school, took a tour, and also took a tour of the business school and met with one of the head people in charge there privately. I obviously listed that I knew that person as well as my visit to Emory on the Common App and also wrote my Why Emory essay on my visit there. Would I have a chance to get in even though my stats are probably low for a school like Emory. How much do they really look at demonstrated interest.

apply ED!!!
my daughter did almost the exact same thing you did in 2008, and in addition, spoke directly to her admissions officer on a regular basis and was nominated for Goizueta Scholars program…

she was waitlisted, with higher stats than you have…

did I say, apply ED???!!!

now, if you tell me that you are from an under-represented geographic location, or are a member of an under-represented minority group…that’s a different story…you’ll be fine…

lol thank you but i already applied…i find out tomorrow for Regular Decision

and if she was nominated by Emory for the Goizueta Scholars Program which is a very high honor, why wasn’t she then just accepted to Emory?

wish I knew…no idea…but she’s happy where she landed!! Good Luck tomorrow!! Hopefully the change in admissions over two years will bring you a positive decision…!!
