How much emphasis does admissions put on rigor of classes?

Next year, I will be a sophomore in high school. I am currently signed up for American literature (honors class), Spanish 200, Algebra 2, Honors chemistry, and American History.

Would admissions care that I am not taking A.P. U.S. or Honors Algebra 2?

Or would they prefer that I have a higher GPA in only a couple honors classes?

Has anyone been accepted without honors or A.P. classes?

As far as I can tell, not much, as long as you’re taking college preparatory classes (i.e. not blow-offs or mostly vocational classes). You ought to have a good background in all the core subjects, but your schedule doesn’t have to be super rigorous. As for your question about which they would prefer, I don’t know.
