How much emphasis does Cal/UCLA put on senior year course load/grades?

I have heard that UCs don't look at first semester senior year grades when determining admission since they get the grades after they make their decisions. I know they still look at senior year course load. But do they look at senior year course load a lot? Would it be okay to have senior year classes to be easier than that of junior year? Would taking harder classes senior year improve my chances? Is it very important to have tough senior year courses and good grades?

senior course load countsa a LOT. Senior grades, nada for admissions, unless you are tagged for augmented review (which is rare). If accepted to any UC, you must maintain a 3.0 uw gpa.

I have heard that they review senior grades for admissions by several people. Either way, I know of many, many people who are convinced that they were either admitted or denied based on the strength of their senior courses.

senior courseload matters alot. so dont slack off and take easy classes, unless you have no choice. senior grades dont really count for much since they dont even see till they accept you and you accept them(thats when your transcripts). Maintain a 3.0uw and no Ds or Fs. so in that sense you can slack off if you dont care and just get all Cs. I wouldnt suggest it though. After all if you come to cal you expect to work and should be self motivated to succeed.

ok thanks.

If you are borderline, they may request a midyear report, so senior year grades are important. Also, if you GPA drops too low, you may have your admission rescinded. And of course, rigor of course load, even for senior year, is considered "very important."
