ok i did the calculator and everything and my EFC was around 23,000

my family makes 105,000 per year. dad only. and i have 35,000 already saved in a college 429 or whatever its called. i read that this doesnt count as an asset as long as assets are < 40,000-50000 which they are. we dont have a lot of money saved.

so how much did people receive with family incomes of around 100-110 thousand?

if you did the calculator correctly (EFC is based on more that just parents income) then you will be expected to pay $23,000 towards college expenses per year. If the college meets 100% need and costs $33,000 -- you could expect to get about $10,000 in aid (mostly loans, some small grants and possibly work-study).

Try this calculator -- and there will be different EFC's for FAFSA and Profile. Also -- not all schools meet full need and schools can calculate EFC differently.

hsmomstef....did u mean to post a link to a finaid calculater?

i just wanted to see what some people actually got compared to the EFC calculator who are in my income level

it sounds appropriate-if perhaps a little low
