How much financial aid can I get?

I'm from South California, first generation college student, first generation american, speak 3 languages fluently, raised in Brazil until 7th grade, portuguese being my first language, 3.75 GPA unweighted in a nationally recognized high school, 28 on the ACT, track, volunteer, work experience. Last year the annual household gross was 60k. I'm trying to convince my parents that they should let me apply to out of state colleges and I really like the university of oregon, it's my #1, but we are not the richest of people. Is it worth it? I need financial help.

Hi, Frandutra. Thanks for your question! At the University of Oregon, we have two scholarship programs that assist both in-state and out-of-state students. I encourage you to take a look at the Apex Scholarship and the Diversity Excellence Scholarship programs, as it sounds like you meet the minimum requirements of both. Most of our out-of-state students pay for their education through a combination of UO scholarships, community-based scholarships, family savings, and federal financial aid. It’s always a good idea to look closely at a school’s cost of attendance and match that up with what you can reasonably expect for scholarships and financial aid, and then you’ll know whether an out-of-state institution is within your reach. Feel free to contact UO’s Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships at (800) 760-6953 with any specific questions you may have. Good luck!
