How much financial aid can I get?

Hi everyone, I really need some help here. Both of my parents make at least $100,000 separately; however, they have to support 12 people in our household. I have 7 younger siblings (myself not included, which makes 8 of us) and my grandmother as well as a paid babysitter live with us. I just wanted to get a feel for how much financial aid we are eligible to receive, so any comments or tips would really help. Thank you all!

The paid babysitter isn’t a dependent so she doesn’t count.

Does grandma receive social security or a pension or have any savings?

It appears that there is 8 members in your family, but with a $200k income, your EFC will still be very high.

How much will your parents pay each year for college?

Sounds like you need to include some schools that will give you large merit for stats.

What are your stats?

Try https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/f4cForm?execution=e1s1

That link doesn’t work @4kidsdad

^Sorry. Try https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/f4cForm

Each school has a Net Price Calculator on its website. Try it.

The grandmother and live-in sitter will not count as dependents.

How much can your parents afford to pay or how much are they are willing to pay?

How many of your siblings will also be in college?

Is either one of your parents self employed or business owners?

Does your family own any real estate other than your primary home?

What are your stats? You may need to look at school where you are a viable candidate for Merit $$

What schools are you considering- you should look at that school’s net price calculator.

What are your parents saying about college costs? They know the have 8 children. What do they hope will happen?

@4kidsdad I’m not going to run a FAFSA 4caster. Why don’t you just tell us what you wanted us to see

“At least” …that means that they make MORE than $200k. What is the household income?

Very true! You need to just ask them how much they’ll pay each year.

Even with a large family, your EFC will be high.

@kelsmom If I remember correctly, I think at one time you said that after a certain number, more dependents doesn’t change the EFC .
