So about 20,000 all together. Not counting loans. EFC was 0.

wow impressive, thats like 12,000 in one year, gives me hope that i can get as much as you when and if i go to ut austin, every year, my has been efc is 0 so that must be good right. wondering what’s up with the loans, are u going to be living on campus or what

^^ Word of advice. If you want the MOST financial aid, apply in late (or early if you can) January - Early February for your Fafsa. That is how I got so much. The money all goes to first come first serve. I got loans but I rejected them all.

And I’m living in Dobie. But I have the Texas Tomorrow so my tuition is all paid for at UT for 4 years. So all that financial aid will be given to me so I can pay for Dobie and some other stuff.

And thanks! I didn’t think it was that great until I saw everyone else’s aid at my school. I was like o.o Woahhh I shouldn’t be complaining!

what do you mean texas tomorrow, what is that, another grant? even without texas tomororow or whatever that is, all your grants cover all your expesnes anyway

Applying early isn’t a sure thing - I filed my taxes and FAFSA mid-January, applied immediately after that, and other than the max Pell grant I only got $750 per semester as a university tuition grant. Everything else I had to take in Stafford loans, both subsidized and unsubsidized. I have a feeling, from seeing the names of the other grants, that most of them are geared towards more traditional students, and being older might make me ineligible for certain things the same way not having a UT GPA screwed me out of scholarships.

Texas Tomorrow is this college pre-paid plan my Uncle bought me when I was 3 years old. You pay a certain amount of money every month until your kid graduates highschool and all that money you paid is put into an account. And that Texas Tomorrow had a special contract with UT to where I would only pay the tuition price that they were asking in 1993. So no matter how much tuition is now, they can only charge me what everyone was paying in the 90’s. So my account covers it all. :)

It’s an oldddddd plan. They don’t sell it anymore. And really sundoll? That sucks. :/

Damn, I applied late and didn’t get the Texas Grant. I only got the Pell and SMART grant with 0 EFC for a total of ~$9500 for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011…

I’m really hoping I get the same grants next year but with the Texas Grant.

This is kind of on subject. But has anyone gotten the B on time loan? Do you have to be specifically offered it on the FAFSA from UT in order to be eligible for it?

Originally in my fin aid package it was split up into grants and some unsubsidized loans. Around a few weeks after I got my aid, I got an email that my fin aid was changed, decided to go check on it, and was happy to know that UT transferred most of the loans into the B-On Time loan.
