How much focus should be placed on ECs, marks, and SAT scores?

How much focus and effort should be placed on ECs, marks, and SAT scores? For instance, if you could split 100% among the three (or include any other criterias that you think are significant) then how would you split the 100%?

GPA-50%
SATs-30%
EC-20%

Something like that, unless you have amazing ECs. It's really tough to differentiate the choices but usually GPA is the most important. SATs and EC can vary very greatly however.

My junior daughter and I just visited 6 LAC in the New York area. They all said the same thing...grades/GPA with difficulty of courses, SAT, ECs. They use the GPAs to make the first cut and the SATs to make the second. Also, the essay and recommendations need to be factored in. They are near SAT's importance. The essay tells them more about you personally. They can help out tremendously!

GPA-70% (in ap/honors/advanced classes)
SAT- 20%
EC's- 10%- unless you don't do any ec's, most schools place most emphasis on grades. sats are important for competitive schools and schloarships.
