How much GRIEF....

....do Hotelies takes from rest of student body? Or are classmates jealous?

If I crack on hotelies, it's generally in jest.

as long as hotelies don't say "ughhhh, this material is soooo hard" I wont bother them

I only know a couple, and they're hardworking people that are fun to be around, so I tend to keep my mouth shut. ;) I do have one friend (who has since graduated and gone on to med school) that would give a rant whenever the subject of hotelies and/or AEM majors and/or ILRies would come up!

Any grief hotelies are given is usually out of envy. I mean, if your idea of grief is people saying "Your classes are soo easy!" (when they are) or, "You guys are always having fun!", or "You have so much free time!" then you are in for hell.

If someone ever truly insulted me for being an ILRie I'd probably get really mad at them...(not talking about the easy going comments the person above me mentioned...)

Figgy, if someone said that, you'd probably just call him/her a disgruntled science major and shake your head at the person as you took a swig from your vodka bottle, while pregaming on a Thursday as said person toiled away at his problem sets. I switched from biology to ILR and didn't get too much crap for it. ILR is a substantial amount of work..it's just reading.

People like to joke about the stereotypes, not really the people in the program.

Everyone knows hotelies will do well career-wise...and Cornell's the best place to be for that program.

I figured...but I remember running into a person serious about it earlier in these forums and he was pretty much insulting all of those schools...and he was 100% serious.

I don't get it, isn't the point of college, graduating then getting a great career? Hotelies like Stplayxtreme said do well carrer wise, so why rag on them.

i knew one hotelie who got credit for shadowing a room cleaner. Hotelies do great career wise, i'd say students are just usually jealous. The coolest classes are at the hotel school!

ILRies don't take much crap, we have more reading than any other major!

Also, Spanks, I didn't know you switched to ILR! When was this??? I guess I didn't realize you were posting under another name until like - 3 days ago or something.

if any grief, it's people who say that the state schools and the hotel school (don't know if the hotel is a state school) have slightly lower "numbers" for the students and that they 'drag down' the numbers for the whole university. i don't think anyone says anything to the actual students of the schools.

It's because they are specialized and not stat whores.

How much reading do you have to do per day/per week if you are one of the ILoveReading..er's. lol (and what are you reading about? Seems like it would be boring reading :) )

They get credits to drink expensive wine...lol.

"How much reading do you have to do per day/per week if you are one of the ILoveReading..er's. lol (and what are you reading about? Seems like it would be boring reading)"

For my first semester, it was usually about 400-600 pages a week. Most of it was thanks to CB100, labor history. This was usually the interesting stuff, read mostly novels, but the other classes tended to be more boring thanks to the fact that the readings were from text books.

Gomestar, yeah, I did switch into ILR and I really like it. I'm enrolled for the fall.

I had a new name because I was unaware of how easy it was to get my password back, lol.

There's a great deal of reading in ILR, but I liked all of it, so it wasn't really a big deal for me.

Wow that's a lot of reading...hopefully I do find it interesting...

that's cool to hear! Yay to see a fellow ILRie!!

Spanks, Why did you transfer from Bio to ILR? just curious...

Because I hate science, lol. Seriously, that's why though.
