I had a really, really sloppy freshman and sophomore year.

Freshman:
UW: 2.86 (2.7 Core Class UW GPA)
W:3.12
C in Honors Biology and Honors Geometry
I took 2 honors classes total (Bio and Geom)

Sophomore:
UW: 3.06 (2.7 Core Class UW GPA)
W: 3.21
C in PST and Spanish 2
Took 1 honors (Chemistry) and got a B & one advanced (not as high as honors but above average, no weighting awarded) class (PST)

Junior (So Far):
UW: 3.73 (3.5 Core Class UW GPA)
W: 4.0+
Am taking 1 AP (Chem), 1 honors class (English) and 1 advanced class (Pre-Calc)

Next Year:
AP Environmental
AP Stat
AP US Pol & Gov
AP Lit
Honors Calc
Honors Physics

I will definitely get 2000+ on the SAT, I think I got a 2100+ on the march SAT and my practice tests have supported that. If I don't get 2100+ on the March SAT i'm going to prep and take it one last time.

I have good, meaningful EC's.

I am capable of writing a good essay, though I have no idea how good mine are going to be.

I am applying to the following schools for Engineering:
-GaTech - Reach
-UIUC
-Purdue
-UWisconsin
-Virginia Tech
-Villanova

Do I even have a shot considering my crappy 9th and 10th grade?

No, the progress looks good. It shows you’re peaking now and you’ve worked hard to get where you are now. The so called “upward trend” is appreciated. Don’t worry, just keep up your grades now, don’t fall now. You should be fine, just maintain your GPA now

I thought i did this yesterday, sorry!
GaTech - Reach
UIUC-i don’t know about this school
Purdue-in
UWisconsin-in
Virginia Tech-High match/low reach, but I think you’ll get in especially with your upward trend
Villanova-reach

i think your chances for all but GaTech look really good. if you can get scores up a bit, demonstrate interest in your intended major, write awesome essays, and keep up this trend through senior year, I wouldn’t put GaTech outside the realm of possibility.
my brother had similar scores and upward trends. but in the summer after junior year he went to china for 7 weeks and studied chinese and also studied to become more fluent in spanish. he intends to major in languages. because he demonstrated such a big interest he was able to get into columbia with an SAT below 2200 and a GPA below 97 (weighted).
so keep up the good work! =)
chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1307449-chances-cs-will-chance-back.html

have you considered penn state? your high SAT should offset your low GPA, they also look at junior year the most. They also have a great engineering program.

Your strong upward trend actually puts you at a better state than you might thing. Try to aim for a 2200+ on that SAT, and you should be good for all but GaTech and Virginia Tech, which are both mid/ high reaches.
