I took the December SAT test, and got a score that I was a bit disappointed with. But I know my problem areas and I just needa practice practice practice and not get lazy. I'm hoping to improve 300 pts but that might be a little farfetched for me..

Sooo I was just wondering how much you guys have improved throughout your whole career of SAT-taking. Anything would help, thank you!

Got a 178 PSAT sophomore year and 2190 SAT in October of Senior year - a 410 point increase. Still waiting for December scores (they were delayed).

I got the following scores:
October PSAT (Sophomore): 178
October PSAT (Junior): 192
June SAT (Junior): 2000
October SAT (Senior): 2190

Hopefully you will get a similar upward trend. I admit that I didn’t work my socks off, but rather I tried to consistently read books and keep my mind on the right track. If it’s a long term thing then I suggest you try to spread out your studying as opposed to cramming.

Jan 08 SAT (Freshman): 1880
Oct 09 PSAT (Junior): 229
Dec 09 SAT (Junior): 2400

Most of it came naturally; albeit I was a completely different person 2 years ago than I am now, so maybe a 520 point increase isn’t typical. Here’s what I expect helped me the most: anytime I came across a word of which its meaning I was unsure of, I looked it up. I must have looked up hundreds, maybe close to a thousand words in the last year or so and undoubtedly it has helped me tremendously.

Oct 07 PSAT (sophomore): 219
Oct 08 PSAT (junior): 225
Jan 09 SAT (junior): 2300
Oct 09 SAT (senior): 2400

Prepared for maybe a month or so with a prep book before the first SAT. About a week-long review before the second time. I actually didn’t study that much vocabulary–just didn’t get enough time to do a whole lot, and the stuff that I did study never showed up on the test. I guess I got lucky my second time with that vocab :)

And monstor, 520 point increase?? And a perfect score as a junior. That’s really impressive!

Um, well the first time I took the SAT it had only two sections. So 1230 points!

But (M+CR) - (V+M) = 430 points. That’s sort of bad since the first time I was 11 and the last time I was almost 17.

I did monstror’s looking up every word in the dictionary thing. But back when I was 11, I looked up the etymology of every word in addition to the definition, so, it wasn’t as huge of a change.

Yeah. I had this “gifted class” teacher who recommended that I take it. I thought all of my friends were doing it too, so I signed up! But then none of them were. But the high school I later went to has all the Honors students take the SAT in 8th grade, so I took it with my sister.
I was really excited to be doing something so “grown up.” I studied a ton.

I got my PSAT score over the Christmas break here in Canada and got 183. Pretty disappointed. I am in gr.11, a junior, so I was stressing out. I studied for about a week out of the 2 week break I got, I know I ruined my break lol but I was stressed. I took my 3rd practice test today from the BB and got 2130.

So, 300 pt. increase in about 2 weeks, and one week or less of actual studying. And not like non-stop exam time studying, just casual studying while surfing the internet and while on MSN and FB. So, you should def. be able to increase your score 300 pts. if you put in the effort.

I hope to get my score up to 2200 by the end of this month. Then in february and march get up to upper 2200s to low 2300s and then at the end of april, consistently get mid-low 2300s. Then write the SAT in May. One shot deal. Def. not writing this beast twice.

Oct 07 PSAT (sophomore): 177 (48M, lololol)
Oct 08 PSAT (junior): 196
Jan 09 SAT (junior): 2130
Nov 09 SAT (senior): 2250
Jan 10 SAT (senior): ??? 2400? :p

PSAT Soph=197-ish?
PSAT Junior=220
SAT Junior=2020
SAT Junior=2240

Then I stopped because I’m happy with a 2240 (no superscore), and I decided that the extra effort wasn’t worth the benefit because after a certain score colleges quit looking at it.

Oct 07 PSAT (sophomore): 177 (48M, lololol)
Oct 08 PSAT (junior): 196
Jan 09 SAT (junior): 2130
Nov 09 SAT (senior): 2250
Jan 10 SAT (senior): ??? 2400?

I hope that is a very similar chain of events for me. I got, I think, a 192(somewhere in the low 190s) on the PSAT as a Junior and I’m taking the SAT for the first time in Jan.
If I can get to 2100 I’d be so excited and if I get to 2200, I’d be sooo sooo soooo happy you don’t even know, lol.

Waowww, everyone’s scores are amazing. Haha, I am motivated now.
Also, I was wondering how you guys balanced homework, sports/activities, and SAT at the same time? I have a hard time doing that… and concentrating, lol.

Sophomore Year PSAT: 205
Junior Year PSAT: 229

No studying either, just naturally improving. Hoping for a 2350+ on my Jan SAT, I’ve taken BB tests 1-4 so far and my scores were 2310, 2340, 2380, 2350.
