How much homework do you guys get (effects on sleep)?

^^ If I was getting 4 hours of sleep, I'd be quitting some EC's in a heartbeat. ;)

Seriously, I really never did, I'm not that type of person. I do my work diligently and always get 95% or higher, also the AP classes I take are not difficult because of the material covered, but because of my teachers. About 90% of the students in my AP classes got 5s and the rest got 4s or 3s, every now and then we get one or two kids that get less though. My teachers assign completely unecessary assignments just to make the course harder and to maintain the class's notorious reputation of being extremely difficult and challenging.

@ highopes- i am quitting some ECs next year lol. I need to put my health first i guess.

Unnecessary assignments don't make a course harder or make it seem difficult.. it makes it seem stupid. lol.

I guess I'm lucky my school isn't very demanding - it only offers 2 APs and a couple Honors classes. On the other hand, you'll be better off than me in the admissions process, so I guess it's a trade-off. :/

Well not to parents who want their children to take the most rigorous courses...

Uhh, are you kidding?
My parents want me to take the "most rigorous courses" and I do. I've been taking classes that are genuinely hard, that don't just "assign completely unnecessary assignments" to make it seem hard. I've always taken every AP available to me, placed myself in situations with the hardest teachers at the school, etc. I'm the salutatorian at my school because the val took classes that "assigned unnecessary assignments." Her higher grades == harder courses.

^Agreed. I took the most rigorous courseload at my school, which offers no APs. They assigned some busywork, but not too much. I managed to get 5s on 6 APs with little out-of-class study, so they must have done something right.

Seriously, I don't really believe you. It could be true, but I honestly can't believe that someone can be so efficient (supposedly) and then not get any sleep. I have tons of ECs (but no job), hard courses, etc. and STILL have tons of free time.

Well, whatever guys, but next year I'm going to make some drastic changes and really try to get 8 hrs of sleep. I have like permanent brackets underneath my eyes, and i scare my little brother with them lol

I'm thinking about getting more sleep and letting my GPA drop a little, i mean i really dont care about being val, i just wanted to get into a good college. I mean i won't let my GPA slip beyond a 3.8, but this should be enough to offer me a lot of spare time.

haha wow
"I'm thinking about getting more sleep and letting my GPA drop a little"
you made my day!! :)

lol, how did that make your day?

That's unheard of on CC, that's why ;]

I've never considered letting my GPA drop to save myself from lack of sleep.
BUT I don't have busy work, and all my homework doesn't add up to an overwhelming amount, so my lack of sleep is all my fault. I'm a habitual procrastinator.

i don't know
i just didn't realize how funny "GPA drop" and "more sleep" would be in the same sentence hahahahah

lol well, i've suffered too much, and once i'm done with my applications, i dont think I'll really care that much anymore lol. I mean i'll aim for a 4.0 but if it means sleep deprivation for over 3 consecutive days, that means less than 6 hours for 3 days in a row, i'm probably going to be like "screw this" and go to sleep.

lol i just choked on my water
i was imagining how a person applies to college with a one year aberration in grades, with the rest of the grades perfect
and the admissions person asks the person why their grades dropped
and the person says, "because I got more sleep that year!"
hahahahhaha

No, seriously I'll tell the admissions officer straight out, i wanted some more sleep.

What is going on? o.o

Will they seriously question you if your GPA dropped from a 4.0 to a 3.8?

imagine their response if you tell them that....
