How much in merit based aid would GA Tech give me if I'm out of state?

Hey guys and gals,

I am currently a junior that is from out of state and I'm really interested Georgia Tech's Chemical Engineering and Bio Molecular Sciences Program. My grades and standardized test scores are decent: 2210 on SAT (800 Math, 720 CR); 5.8/6.0 Weighted GPA; 4.0/4.0 Un-weighted (Not factoring Honors/AP classes b/c idk how to do that); 10+ AP/Honors courses; top 5% of my class. Extracurricular: NHS, 100+ hrs of volunteer work, Church involvement, etc. So how much would they give me approximately in merit based aid because I'm not confident that I'll qualify for financial aid. Would I drowning in debt by graduation time?

If Georgia Tech is not gonna work out, I can always fall back on UT Austin or Texas A&M for my degree.

Thanks a bunch! :)

They do not offer much, if any, merit aid unless you have a hook (female, URM, etc.)

And my Female URM mechanical engineering major only got $1200 in merit aid from Tech so even those hooks don’t necessarily give you merit aid at Tech. We are still grateful for that scholarships through the alumni club. The biggest merit scholarships is the Presidential Scholarship but it is very difficult to get. You do seem to have the stats for it but only a small percentage receive it. Good luck.

I think I’d rather stay in Texas then LOL
