Ya I know I have to remember that I'm not gonna get as high of a GPA as at my Freshman college lol. Oy veh, i hate thinking about how 50% of the people at Cornell are below average. So I just won't and I'll be positive about it! lol

I'm a graduating senior. I had a 3.97 GPA, president of student council, on math team, member of many committees such as new teacher hiring committee, in NHS, etc. Volunteer opportunities included heavy work (3+ days a week) at a Therapeutic Riding Center, in addition to work experience at a Veterinary Clinic and Horse Barn. Extensive riding experience as well. In addition, had alumni at Cornell. And great recs, if I do say so myself....
Standardized Test Scores were lower, 1960 SATs (CR 630 / M 700 / W 630), 29 ACTs, 770 on Math II subject

Did you REALLY think you were a shoe-in? Cornell is definitely NOT that easy to get into. Unless you win the grand prize at Intel or Siemens or something... a 1960 will never cut it. I'm assuming you're not an URM also because if you were, you'd probably get in.

but to answer the question. yea i think cornell puts a lot of emphasis on gpa. noone in my school with below an A- (3.8) got in. all were in top 10%
