I have a 3.69GPA, but that is with making up a class that I failed. I'm assuming that most colleges are going to factor my GPA with that failing grade giving me a 3.3 (which isn't all that great). How much do you think it's possible to bring up my GPA having only two semesters left to do so. I'll be graduating in the Spring of 2007.

It is tough but if you can pull straight A with 4.0 GPA in the rest of the semester, your GPA will be boosted up a lot.

^ You can't be serious. The man said he only has two semesters left. I think that it'll be hard to raise your GPA to a 3.5

so am I screwed?

Failing a class is not a problem that is easy to deal with. But with effort, I'm just saying that you can boost your GPA to about a 3.5, which is by no means a horrible horrible GPA (unless you're planning on going to med school).

Well I'm a community college student so med-school would be a while down the road.

Not sure if this would bring it up more but, I'm taking 9credits this summer and I'll be taking 18 for both fall and spring semesters.

you need 19 credits at 4.0 to bring your gpa to 3.8, pending you make up that class.end. anything more is good, but i mean, in all seriousness, you're probably not hitting 3.9.

I didn't think a 3.9 would probably be possible. I do want to significantly raise it though. I did make up the class that I didn't do so well in and got an A. I just don't think that most colleges are going to use my GPA with the new grade. Won't most schools use my GPA with the old grade.

Maybe if you give a good explanation as to why you failed the class, they'll let your A have more weight.

It's not a good excuse though. It was my first semester of college after taking time off and I didn't get my professor's teaching method at all. I have since learned some other coping methods of doing well in classes with professors I don't like other than failing.

On the other hand the fact that you learned how to deal with bad teachers is a sign of maturity. I would view that as a positive thing.

You community college doesn't have anything like Academic Renewal where only your new grade gets calculated into your gpa?

It does have that, but I'm figuring that most colleges I apply to are going to use my GPA with the F wouldn't they? Here at my school my GPA is 3.69. I'm assuming like I said that most schools woudln't use that they would use the 3.33 wouldn't they?

I see. Best of luck to you.

Thank you kindly.

are you at a california community college? Are you going to do any TAA's? What is your major and where did you want to transfer?

No I'm not at a California community college. I want to go somewhere on the east coast. UNC-CH, University of Florida, NC State, not sure where else. I'm thinking biology as a major.
