How much is Texas A&M offering you with their counter offer?

If you don't know, Texas A&M will counter offer if you send them scholarship offers from other colleges. I sent mine from OU and OSU, and today I checked, and I ended up with only a $2000/year Aggieland Bound scholarship, making the grand total $46,000 for my package (in state). I expected more than this, because I had read others' receiving up to $40.000 extra, making their totals around $80,000 instate, so I might have to reconsider schools. Out of curiosity, has anyone else been counter offered at Texas A&M? What are they giving you?

Maniac Apple–when did you hear from A&M–we are OOS and son has heard virtually nothing in spite of naming them his first choice on first round of NMF. He initially received mail indicating he would get the full offer featured on the website, but that was when he was a NMSF.

Just had a visit to Bama and he is leaning towards them partially because they have kept in touch every step of the way. The offer from Bama is very generous, but it evens up pretty much after the freshman year. I think keeping the offer, gradewise is also easier at Bama. If I remember correctly A&M requires a 3.5, Bama a 3.0.

Maniacapple that’s good news. Does the new scholarship also require a 3.5 GPA?

Aggie84, your son needs to check his financial aid section of his Howdy. Alabama is keeping in touch with my DD every step of the way. I like the first year offer at Bama, but like you, it evens up after the first year. And housing seems pricey there. My DD has offers from USC, Univ. of Arizona, OSU, Bama, and A&M. She initially selected A&M, but without the “package” we need, she will need to rethink the choice-probably the Univ. of Arizona or OSU. We can’t make it work, otherwise, and don’t want her to take out any loans.
