Do you guys think that the admission officers at combined degree programs make their decisions based mostly on the interview? (assuming, of course, that applicants are offerred one based upon scores, gpa, and ec's).

some colleges will base your decision soley on the interview when you get that far. other colleges well not put as significant weight on the interview, and some colleges don't even have an interview. so my point is- it differs from place to place.

yea. my cousin got interviews at VCU, Drexel, and University of Cincinatti, and after the interviews, he only got into VCU for direct medical...so it actually matters ALOT. I have the AAMC book that tells which universities have a bs/ba/md program, and it shows how many people got interviews in each school, and how many of the interviewed people get selected for the program. They usually cut from 30% to 60% of the people from the selection process after the interviews...so they matter ALOT!!!

neelesh, how good of a candidate was your cousin? was he borderline acceptance/rejection? or was he pretty sure of getting into all three programs?

erm. his stats were: 1430 SAT, 680,680,610 SAT IIs in writing, math IIC and biology respectively. he had never volunteered at a hospital, but he did research at labs and stuff...i think he was either borderline or kinda close to getting in...i dunno lol

sounds like my stats, cept i volunteer a lot. And i also think it has to atribute to the fact tha tperhaps you are a resident of the state. When I taled to Dr. Chandler at VCU earlier this year, she personally told me that i have a better chance than persay someone out of state, because 1) i know the region, 2)its cheaper, 3)its a public state run school, 4) they know the general grading and methods of the schools in the state. So we'll see, my numero uno choice of course is VCU, i could care less if i got an interview or acceptance to anywhere after the day of reciveing my VCU acceptance letter, granted i get one.

But colleges also tell you about how much they rank their interview. You can call and ask, and they'll be happy to tell you about it.
