How much is the SAT really worth?

Math I is almost pointless and counter productive due to the harsh curve - if you take a math test, it means you’re good at math and are likely in precalc (or higher), so you should take Math II.

@MYOS1634 - I don’t think so. I took both and just wanted to see which one I would do better on. I ended up doing about equal on both in terms of score, but my Math I percentile rank was much better. I think that if a college doesn’t require that you take Math II, it’s useful just to see how you would do on either one.

But the caliber of colleges that require SAT 2s don’t use percentile. They want to see if you can score 750 on whatever tests you choose. And it’s MUCH harder to score 750 on Math1 than on Math2 for a student who’s good at math and in precalc.

I don’t think so. I got a 750 on Math I and a 740 on Math II, for what it’s worth. I didn’t prep for either of them, but when I took the tests I thought that Math I was far easier than Math II overall, even with a harsh curve.

And, funnily enough, I ended up getting a 700 on the math section of the SAT. I did much better on the ACT overall, but I found it pretty funny that I did better on Math I and Math II than I did on the SAT’s math section.

Alright thanks all, this helps a lot!

UPDATE: Not sure if this thread is relevant still but i got a 720 M on jan SAT After studying more! Thanks to all who commented!
