You've heard it once, and you've heard it again: involvement and passion for extra-curriculars are often the deal-maker/breaker in college admissions. But then, you've also heard that overextending and spreading yourself too thin is looked upon poorly? How much is too much?

Personally, I take a lot of challenging courses in every "subject" and I participate in a large variety of activities. I take the courses, because not that may choices are offerd. I will finsh every AP (other than art and languages) that my school offers and still have several free periods. My activities though...
My parents and my guidance counselor have long been trying to convince me to drop some of my activities, but I really have a hard time deciding what to drop. I know which ones I won't mention on my application because I haven't been involved to the extent of the other activities, but this still poses a problem. I plan to list the following activties(each will have many bullet point under it):

Piano
Math/Science/Engineering
Creative Writing
Forensics/Politics
Student/Community Service and Leadership
Chinese Culture and Volunteerism (I work with adopted children)

Things I'm probably not mentioning: Environmental Stuff (club, team), Tennis (okay this isn't that important but I was captain of JV and I refuse to quit because I really love playing.)

Do you guys thing that I should drop anything, and if so, which ones?
What are you viewpoints on this issue, how much is too much?
And- feel free to post if you if have the same dilemma.
