<p>Penn will not admit/reject you based on your financial status. They are willing to risk admitting 90% kids with incomes bellow 50k/year. They see your family's financial status, and gauge you based on that (as in ECs, SAT scores, etc). </p>
<p>Some colleges will have X spots for financial aid kids, or X dollars they can spend on financial aid. They find the kids they know they want to admit who need aid, and when the money is gone, the rest are waitlisted, and some less qualified people are admitted because they can pay the full freight. Penn (and the other ivys) is not one of these colleges.</p>
<p>Does sending in one of those financial aid forms hurt your chances?</p>

My family is 90+, but they still wanted to fill out the fin aid forms.</p>

<p>i guess some people may reflect their familes' financial problems in essay/ecs..and the admissions officers see your parents' occupations, so if they are both doctors/lawyers/investment bankers, then they pretty much know you are well-off..</p>
<p>Well my parents got better jobs as of late, but as little as a few months ago, we were having financial problems.
I wrote one of my essays about a job I took up because I wanted to help out my parents financially.
I just hope Penn doesn't assume too much.</p>
