How much is your In-state cost

Let's do a short survey:

Take a regular state university in your home state, and let us know (give or take a few dollars), how much it would cost an instate student to attend.
Combine tuition, room and board.

Here's one from New Jersey: Stockton State (which is similar in cost to Rowan, Rutgers, TCNJ, etc).

Total (remember, give or take a few bucks): $17,500

What's yours?

SUNY is about $14,200

Ohio State Univ. ~$16,000

UWashington is $17,592, including $2,265 in personal expenses, and $396 travel. Evergreen and Western Washington University are about $1,600 cheaper than that.

Washington State, oddly enough, is a little bit more than UW.

Wow, Mini. I thought the east coast was high in state college costs. I had never looked at the west coast public school numbers other than what I had seen hear on the UCs which are reasonable until you get into room prices.

And, remember, incomes are, generally speaking, lower out here for those attending college.

Connecticut - UCONN's instate cost, including tuition, room & board, and fees is $15,760

University of Colorado - Boulder
(The books/supplies numbers seem a little high to me.)

Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Education, Architecture, and Music
Tuition and Fees $5,643
On-Campus Room and Board $8,300
Books/Supplies $1,698
On-Campus Estimated Total $15,641

College of Engineering
Tuition and Fees $7,083
On-Campus Room and Board $8,300
Books/Supplies $1,698
On-Campus Estimated Total $17,081

College of Business

On-Campus Room and Board $8,300
Books/Supplies $1,698
On-Campus Estimated Total $18,341

Oklahoma State University - $17,230 (from estimated COA)

I can't find University of Oklahoma COA but I think it is a little higher

found it

University of Oklahoma - $17,500

Texas at UT. Tuition and Fees R+B, only - $16,600 to $19,000 (with liberal arts being the cheapest and business being the highest) .

UGA: $14,812
UGA with HOPE scholarship (3.0 in core subjects in HS):$9,500

<a href="http://www.kiplinger.com:80/tools/colleges/%5B/url%5D">http://www.kiplinger.com:80/tools/colleges/</a></p>

list from Kiplinger that you can sort by in or out of state tuition

Of course they don't mention what CLASS SIZE is !

lol

The Washington State University and University of Washington are both about $6k for tuition -- the rest of Mini's numbers were room, board, and other stuff.

Penn State Main Campus $18,000 2005-2006, I think it's a couple of thousand more.

Millersville University of PA - $12,964, Kutztown University of PA $15,300.

Top UC: Cal-Berkelely, $24,272 (on campus); room & board = $13k

Top Cal State U: Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, $17,043

San Diego Sate = $17,774

University of Wyoming

Tuition $2,820 (30 semester credits)
Fees $340 (annual)
Room and Board $6,836 (unlimited meals)

Wyoming as a state puts major cash into the University to keep Tuition low. Wyo only has one 4 year university in the state so they get all the cash. All students who graduate from a Wyo HS with at least a 3.5 and 25 ACT attend tuition free. A 3.0 GPA and a 21 ACT will get you $2,400 a year for tuition. Even a 2.5 and a 19 ACT will get you $1600 a year. Natural Gas, Coal, and Oil money has Wyo rolling in dough right now. Almost every HS in the state is new or will be soon as the state is funding the building of new buildings

Univ of Washington has just announced a policy that anyone who qualifies for a pell grant pays no tuition.

I checked a few of our state schools in Arkansas and came up with around
$8,000-$12,000 per year for tuition, fees, room and board depending on the school.

Virginia (UVA)

Instate
Tuition & Required Fees $8,035
Room (Average for On-Grounds Housing) & Board $6,909

Out-of-State
Tuition & Required Fees $26,135

Iowa State

Not sure about Iowa and UNI but I'm paying about $14000/yr at ISU including books and personal expense
