I applied to world campus for Spring 2012, and my online application recently changed to say:
Your application is complete, all of your required materials are here, and we are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.

Does anyone know if this means I should have a decision soon? I saw a lot of talk about it last year, but not much for this year.

My daughter also applied for the Spring 2012 semester. Hers says “Your application has been received and is being reviewed. Thank you for applying to Penn State.” Yours sounds more hopeful.

Mine said that originally, but just changed over to the one above today. I hope they push it thru because you can start signing up for classes on Tuesday.

Mine just changed to “Your application has been received and is being reviewed. Thank you for applying to Penn State.” too…
every time they make a change in the status, I swear I get a mini heart attack…

Thank you for applying to Penn State. Your application has been received and is being reviewed. An admission decision will be posted here in the coming days.

so I am applying for Fall 2012 (Freshman), and mine just changed to the “Your application is complete, all of your required materials are here, and we are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.” What exactly does this mean? Does anyone know approximately how long until I will hear?

A few with high stats may hear in the first part of November. After that, depending on your stats, from December to late January has been the norm. If you are more toward the middle of the pack - count on January.

Sorry didn’t make that exactly clear -
It originally said “Your application has been received and is being reviewed. Thank you for applying to Penn State.” and changed to the above…
No difference, right?

I applied to Penn state in the first week of September, but I applied to hazleton as my first choice, not UP. My status just change on Wednesday to: Thank you for applying to Penn State. Your application has been received and is being reviewed. An admission decision will be posted here in the coming days.

When your message changes from “a decision will be available here as soon as one is made” to “in the coming days”, you’ll receive your decision in literally 2-3 days.

A hint for University Park applicants. Last year my son was turned down for fall/2011 admission to University Park. When his status changed to “in the coming days” the picture and description of University Park changed to a picture of the Nittany Lion, and a description of the branch campuses, and how you still receive a “Penn State education”, blah, blah, blah. His status changed to a rejection 2 days later. We then contacted them, and they offered him admission for the summer. When we told them he was interested in considering the summer offer, they resubmitted the paperwork, and the status changed back to “in the coming days”. However, this time the picture and description of University Park stayed the same. His status changed to an acceptance 2 days after that.

I suppose it would work the same if your 1st choice is another campus. If the picture and description of the campus you applied to stay the same, then you’re in. If it changes to the Nittany Lion, and mumbo jumbo about how great the other campuses are, then you’ve been rejected.

I think that it changes to the description of Penn State overall, because I’ve read about people who got that and still got accepted into UP. I think it’s just regular for them to do that, I don’t think it’s a secret way of them telling you you’re rejected…

Greendog2 - Good luck and I hope it works out for you. That was just our experience, and some of my son’s friends, from last year. I wasn’t inferring that it was a “secret code” or the such. It was just a consistent observation that we, and others from last year, noticed.

As far as when you should expect something, my son, and others we know from last year, received the decision within 2-3 days of the status change. I don’t know if it will be the same this year.

TRAYE25- okay, so I am a bit confused, but I just got rejected. I put Hazleton as my first choice and Beaver as my second. And it just said they’re unable to offer me admission and told me to try another campus. Does that mean I got rejected from both?? Or just Hazleton? And does it cost money to apply again?
