How much longer

And when your son was rejected, what did it say? Was he accepted into another campus?

And I’m not an idiot either, my stats either matched or went higher then Hazletons/Beavers. And they both have high acceptance rates, so how was I rejected?? And I found out last night, and today is Sunday, so I’m going to call them tomorrow, and figure out what’s up.

Can you help me for what should I ask? I want to ask about if I was rejected from both, and just wondering if I could apply again.
Please Help!

I would definitely call. Something sounds weird.

greendog2- definitely call and see what they say about your status. Maybe its some kind of computer glitch? Or maybe there is an alternative campus where you can be accepted? I’m sure the admissions people will fill you in. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

According to you guys what should the status be? I mean I did everything correctly, applied early, sent in all my materials, and still rejected from Hazleton AND Beaver?? It still doesn’t make sense to me because they have 90% acceptance rates. And it’s not like I had a 1.5, it’s much higher than that. My gpa is eh, and my sat is in their top range. I also talked to the admission director of Beaver and Hazleton, they said I have a great chance of getting in, and I should most definitely apply. Is there any sort of appeal possibility I could do?

This is what my status is right now:
We have completed our review of your application to Penn State and are unable to offer you admission to the campus and/or major of your choice; however, if you would like to be considered for another campus or major, please call or email the Admissions office to be reviewed again.
Further information will be in the mail to you shortly in order to assist you in making further decisions about joining us at Penn State.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Anne Rohrbach
Executive Director for Undergraduate Admissions
P.S. You should keep your Penn State student identification number available for future contact with us. Your PSU ID number is *********.

It then gives links to all the Penn States campuses.

Please Help, I need all the comments/suggestions I can get!
Thank you!

I think the best suggestion we can make is for you to call them.

Can you check your application to make sure you didn’t inadvertently pick main campus?

I am going to call them tomorrow, should I call the main Penn state undergraduate office? Or beaver and Hazleton?
And yeah I checked, I didn’t put main campus.
:(

I just made sure, I put Hazleton as first choice, Beaver as alternate, and UP as graduating campus…

When applicants get rejected from UP, do they get a message that they’re accepted into their second choice? Or is it like mine?

I think if I was actually rejected, it’s because I put management as my major, which I guess is probably impacted. Wow I feel like an idiot

greendog2 - I’m very sorry you didn’t get the news you were hoping for. I’d start by contacting Hazleton. I’m not sure if the message you received means that you’ve been turned down by your 2nd choice as well, my son only applied to University Park, he made no second choice.

What we did last year was e-mail admissions, and we basically said that we thought it must be a mistake that he was turned down, because his GPA and SAT’s where at the upper end of their middle 50 percentile range, and that he also had a very strong curriculum. They e-mailed back within a few hours and offered him summer admission, it was that easy. We didn’t have to re-submit anything, they did everything for us, and no additional fee.

We know others who were turned down, and when they contacted PSU, were offered admittance to another major- and the same thing, PSU re-submitted everything for them, with nothing more than an e-mail from the applicant.

I would contact them first thing tomorrow, and nicely explain why you feel you’re qualified for admittance, and, if you’re open to changing your major, indicate as much.

Best of luck, and let us know how it goes.

Don’t panic. Just call admissions – you will be shocked how much they can work out over the phone. And if, by chance, it turns out that you really aren’t PSU-bound, keep in mind that there are many good choices out there meant for you. You deserve to be at a school that will appreciate you!!

Thank all of you so much!! Especially you TRAYE25, I emailed them, explained everything, and they told me, if you change your major from management to undecided, we will be able to offer you admission, into the Division of Undergraduate Studies. I obviously said yes, and my status went back to saying they’ve received my application and a decision will be posted. And it’s Hazletons information now

An email/phone call can literally save your life!! Thank you all!

Greendog2 - I am so happy for you - congratulation!!! I’m sorry if my post on Saturday, 10/22 seemed a little cold and off putting, I was just trying to help everyone as much as I could, based on my family’s previous experience.

You should be very proud, being accepted into a fine institution like Penn State is a great accomplishment, and you will receive an amazing education that will follow you the rest of your life. Kudos!

Best of luck to you!!
