i'm just wondering how much money a month (besides tuition and housing) would I need to live while attending UCLA? Any of you guys, who already attend UCLA??

for the whole year Im paying around 6.5K for tuition and $4K for housing + 19/meals...so thas around 11K for the whole year. keep in mind Im not getting any financial aid.

I will try to keep costs down for discretionary spending....I haven't budgeted anything yet but Im guessing anywhere between 50-100 per month

how are you only paying 4k for housing?

He's living in an apartment.

I'd like to know as well.
Besides Dorm food, tuition, and housing. How much "spending money" do you guys think is appropriate? I have a summer job and will probably save 2k for UCLA just for spending money.

no im stayin at the co-ops

at UCLA I plan to be a library monk so I don't think I will spend a lot....for entertainment they screen free movies regularly so Im fine with that

Which ones are the co-ops?

so for the entire school year, excluding summer/tuition/dorm food, how much money does the average UCLA student need/speed?

Thank you Citan.

I would estimate that the average UCLA undergraduate student, living on campus with a 14 Premier meal plan spends ~$120 in spending money per quarter.

per quarter????? not even per month? i like that number=))

wow only $120 per quarter? sweet. i thought you would need around like 2k for the entire year or something. so what do people buy or use their money to do anyway as ucla?

I live off campus and get $1000/month. $800 is rent and the other 200 goes to utilities and some food. That doesn't include my CC bill or phone bill or any extra stuff.

Definitely a con to living off campus.

What do people spend their money on? umm. Everything? Movies, food, shows, clothes, etc? I'd imagine, at least. There's something for everyone.

I got by with like 100 bucks a quarter to tell you the truth... that was while living in the dorms of course.

do u spend all your time on campus or what? i just can't imagine living two and a half months on $100.. what about parties and stuff, don't u need money for that?

I live in a sorority and so my monthly rent and dues are cheaper than apartments in the area. Each house has a chef so you get food as well. My padres give me $700 spending money a month on top of that.

$700/month? That seems over the top.

$700? ...rich parents are handy.

700 a month is pretty good. and coops only cost like 4k a year? wow. that beats me paying 13k a year at the dorms haha. but how can you guys only live off 120 of spending money a quarter? maybe i'm just a big spender but now it makes me think that i should conserve more haha.
