im looking at 900-1200 dollars

im thinkin bout spendin 1k-2k

I spent 1.2k on mine.

Do not leave it in the library unattended. There have been 5 laptops stolen in the science libraries within the last two weeks.

mine was around $1100 on sale, but ended up being around $1350 after virus protection and microsoft word.

i'm planning to spend 3k to 4k. I need a ultimate gaming laptop. I'm a crazy gamer.

just get a nice desktop for intense gaming

yeah, and you can overclock desktops too and overclock the graphics+cpu.

i spent $1200.
plus $15 for a laptop lock :D

$1,209.81 after tax. thats what im looking at.

i dont think i need a larger drive, but 80 does seem small. do you think i need a dvd burner as a computer science major?

80? small? i started with 40. it broke and now i have 80 xD

dvd burner is nice. worth the extra bucks.

btw, if you buy from dell, there are always lots of nice coupons. i got a $750 off $2000 coupon when i got my laptop, so my total was like ~$1400 (after tax/shipping/etc) for a really kicka$$ laptop. i think there is a $350 off $999 coupon that ends on 6/14 right now.

but dells are ugly :p

I spent 1300 (that includes taxes) on a mid-level MacBook. Well worth the money :)

$1600 on a ASUS R1F Tablet PC. That included a 2nd battery, for 5 hrs of battery life.

eww hp and dell
they suck
bad warrenty service

i got used fujitsu p1510d

8.9" inch and weighs less than 2 pounds

I got a hp, 15.4 screen, 2.0ghz processor, 2gig ram, nvidia 7400 blah blah, total came out to be 1400 which is reasonable... thought about getting the sony ones that are smaller with better processor but the extra money don't seem to worth it since sony sells their laptops more expansive for its name... my dad does all the laptop shopping for his company and they buy a lot of laptops for their sales persons, he realized that dell laptops breaks down/have more problems than sony and hp ones... for the dude that wants a extreme gaming one, just get a desktop and a normal laptop for school work...

Don't spend that $2000+ on the MacBook Pros, unless you're filthy rich. Not worth all that money.

Dells, Compaqs, and hPs are popular; I'd say ~1200 is fair enough. Warranties are a huge ripoff if you know you can take care of your computer well.

I second that notion. Sure, a gaming laptop might seem all great when you get it, but as time goes by, you're gonna be stuck with a quickly outdated machine that you can't upgrade if you want to play the latest stuff.

WOW kick53rv3
I have like the same exact laptop as you haha... dv6000t?
I just got it a few weeks ago, but I was able to use a 15% off coupon so it came to $1250ish after taxes.
